Hi Cheryl,

You asked an important question. A pound of Red Wiggler Meat is about the size of an average adult male's fist. It's important to realize this concept, because you don't want to be feeding a basketball sized amount of food to a fist sized amount of worms! Sounds silly, but people do it unknowingly. Overfeeding your worms is the #1 way to kill all your worms, plus create a stinky bin, plus create an insect problem. None of these scenarios is pleasant.

To feed a pound of worms, bury a pound of produce scraps in the corner of your bin and completely cover with damp bedding. When the food is eaten, you can then feed again. This is my recommendation to avoid problems with your worm bin.

Worms are sold by weight. Liquid measure (Cups) is volume. The two measurements do not equivalize. You can probably fit a pound of worms in an 8 ounce cup due to the dense weight of the worms.

Hi. I've wondered what a pound of red wigglers look like. If you were holding a pound of worms in your hand, how would they compare to the size of a baseball? Or, if you were to put just the worms into an 8-ounce cup, would you need two? 16 oz = 1 lb? Curious minds want to know.

Thanks
