Yesterday, I received an email from Charles, an American, now living in Tokyo. Awhile ago, Charles purchased a Worm Inn that was sent to his residence in Japan. After working with The Worm Inn, Charles sent the following note:

This is Charles from Japan. I have received the worm inn and have
started using it. So far, it seems to be doing much better than the
plastic bin I had.

To date, The Worm Inn is composting worms in:

Asia. North America, Europe, Australia. Just need customers in Africa, South America and Antartica and The Worm Inn will be on every continent!

If you want a better composting system, The Worm Inn is for you! Customers around the world agree!

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have all the “Luck” gardening? It seems EVERYTHING they plant thrives. Yep, you know who I’m talking about…the neighbor that gives the entire neighborhood fresh produce in shopping bags!

Healthy plants do not grow due to luck, and healthy soil doesn’t just “Happen”. Preparation is the key.

If you’ve read up on soil science, the current philosophy is that it is better to feed the soil than to feed the plants. What this means is that healthy soil is LOADED with beneficial bacteria. Anything you do to help keep the bacteria alive will payback in flourishing plants.

Natures #1 bacteria producers are worms…..the intestines of the earth.

Because many people don’t understand the role worms play in healthy soil, they fear that their plants will get “Eaten” by worms. This could not be further from the truth. Worms have no teeth, and slurp organic (NON LIVING) material. As the material passes through the worms intestines and is processed, it comes out LOADED with beneficial bacteria. This is how organic matter is turned into SUPERFOOD for your plants.

As the days start becoming shorter, now is the time to get your garden ready for fall/spring planting. The BEST way to prep your garden is to simply collect all of the leaves from your yard, your neighbors yard, and your neighbors, neighbors yard. You can never have too many leaves! As they break down, they become worm food!

ALABAMA JUMPERS are harvested from the earth, and are the only commercially available worm for the earth. These Super Strong worms will thrive in soil ranging from sandy, to heavy clay. All they “ASK” is that you provide them with plenty of organic matter (LEAVES).

www.TheWormDude.com has the best price on Alabama Jumpers on the net. Buy from the source that made Alabama Jumpers famous! We sell thousands of pounds every year.

For a great economical way to add to your worm herd, try some today.

Please realize there will sometimes be a two week wait for cocoons, as they are more difficult to harvest than live worms. Look under “Worm Stuff” for details!

*Because your setup conditions may vary, we cannot guarantee hatch rates on cocoons.

We literally do have a pumpkin patch this year. Will likely produce two dozen large pumpkins out of an area about 15′ x 6′. This is the same area that my Alabama Jumpers have been raised in. Think there is a correlation between healthy soil and impressive plant production? I’ve got no doubts.

What you are looking at it a picture of the Worlds LARGEST Worm Inn. I’ve put a hammer next to this unit so you could see just how big this actually is! Your first question is probably, “What the heck is he going to do with that”?

Here’s the backstory….If you know anything about me, you know that I never do things on a small scale if I can think of a way to do them on a large scale That’s not necessarily a good trait, as it sometimes leads to interesting and unintended results. Anyway…..I love the quality and texture of the castings that come out of my Worm Inn…so, I thought, what if I manufactured a BIG Worm Inn? After a short conversation with my manufacturing manager, I give the go ahead to design a 4×4 (Pallet Size) Worm Inn. What I didn’t think about is, How in the world do you hang a pallet sized Worm Inn? The opening at the top was 4×4, but I forgot that the dimensions of the length would also grow proportionally.

If I ever atttempted to hang it, I would need a ladder to reach up to fill it!

So….now I’ve got this HUGE Worm Inn. I’m thinking…I’m going to figure out a good use for this, or die trying. There’s a thought! If I die trying, I could be put in this thing and fed to the worms! Maybe that’s the upside….the world’s most breathable composting casket! Hmmmmm…..may be tough to make modifications if it doesn’t work well.

After deciding against that option, but still wanting to make good use of this huge bag, I had another thought…..”What if I filled this with leaves and grass clippings and wet it down”? BANG…a new concept was formed. “The Compost Inn”…the most breathable composting system in the world! Plastic units try to get air into the compost, but will never compare because plastic doesn’t breathe well………Stay tuned!

Guess which castings came out of The Worm Inn?

HINT (The castings on the left came out of a plastic bin)!

I often talk about the virtues of The Worm Inn compared to plastic systems.

More air flow = MUCH Healthier and active worms

More air flow = MANY more scraps that can be processed

More air flow = Scraps break down MUCH faster

More air flow = MUCH nicer castings (NO MORE MUDDY CASTINGS)

More air flow = NO more dead worms from overwatering

The reality is, no matter how hard I try, I can’t figure out a benefit of using plastic to raise worms?

Can You?

As The Worm Inn gains in popularity, there’s lots of “Buzz” about it on the net. As with anything on the net, half of the comments come from people that have never actually “Seen” or “Touched” a Worm Inn, so I always recommend giving credence to those that have actually worked with the product they are discussing!

As a manufacturer, the second best compliments you can hope for are customer referrals. The BEST compliments you can get is when someone likes your product so much, they make a YouTube video to brag about it.

One of my customers, Jason H. wrote me to tell me that he liked his Worm Inn so much, he made a video about it and put it on you tube.

How great is this? Customers using YouTube to help promote your product! That’s Cool!

Jason invited me to watch the video and offer recommendations. I wanted to print the recommendations so everyone can benefit…..

“When you harvest, hold the bottom and milk it like a cow. Without controlling what comes out the bottom, you very well could have a BUNCH coming out the bottom. Also, by milking it until you get some unfinished stuff coming out, you’ll get much more falling out each harvest.

“When watering, it’s much easier just to use the mister attachment on your hose and just water that way. You can water right through the screen. You’ll probably be keeping your inn more moist this way, and when you want to harvest, just stop watering for a few days so the bottom gets dryer again. The worms will stay moist in the damp vegetation in the “Sweet spot”

I’d like to publically thank Jason for his enthusiastic video/recommendation.

I’d consider hosting a Contest, “HOW MUCH DO I LOVE MY WORM INN!” If this sounds like something you’d like to participate in, send me an email letting me know. If I get enough particpants, I’ll get the contest going with a NICE prize for the winner.

Dr. Cross’ website is almost completed. When finished, I’ll include it on a blog post. It’s been exciting to work on the expansion of this product, and I can definitely say we’ve all learned a lot while doing so!

If you are in Europe and would like to purchase The Worm Inn Tent, just send me an email and I wil put you in touch with Dr. Cross.
